![]() If anything the drum patterns prove how watered down Metallica's music became as their matured. Drumming is difficult, particularly on their early songs. The song selection will keep fans of any period of Metallica's work happy, and the selection of non-Metallica songs (picked from the catalogues of their support acts through the years) gives a good cross-section of hard rock/metal through the last 20 years. conversely fans of the band should add this to their collection now! Starting out with the band walking on stage to The Ecstasy of Gold then into song, this is pure fan service from the off. Obviously anyone who is not a fan of Metallica need not apply. If you aren't then this game is probably going to be just a little above average. It's not a bad game, and if your are a huge fan of Metallica you will love this game. It can be very distracting, when the whole screen shakes violently, except, thankfully, for the guitar/bass/drum/vocal tracks where the notes are. I don't like the shaking camera when certain parts of songs are played though. They have all the old good songs by the band and not being a fan of the newer stuff it is nice to not have to play through those songs you dislike to get to the good stuff. The only thing that I can really say I like about this game above and beyond World Tour is that when you open new venues you're given quite a bit of different songs to play and aren't forced to necessarily play all Metallica songs to progress further. Consider the price before you buy the game. I myself am a hardcore Metallica fan so I decided to pay $60 for 49 songs. A nice chunk of the problems from World Tour and 3 are fixed, such as the over-charted songs, the difficulty curve, the interface (somewhat), and all the nooks and crannies of what World Tour should have been. The graphics are a nice step up from World Tour and Aerosmith's cartoony look, and what really amazes me is how accurate the 80's version of the band looks like, give or take Rob's goofy hat. ![]() Apart from those compaints, the song list is amazing, spanning all 25 years of Metallica's career. Watching Lars walk about the stage while the drums to Battery have started is really annoying. I was also put off by the fact only 49 songs are in the game (59 if you include the Death Magnetic DLC) and the animations on the band are not synced up to the music. What I don't like about the game is that some of the earlier Metallica hits, like No Remorse, The Call of Ktulu, Harvester of Sorrow, To Live is to Die, Holier Than Thou, and so on, are not in here. I was also put off by the fact only 49 songs are in the game (59 if you include the Death Magnetic DLC) and the animations on the band are not This is what a music game should be. For GH fans, and especially Metallica fans this is a MUST BUY. There is definitely enough here to warrant the price tag. Save for some songs I wish HAD been there, the set list is an even sampling of their entire career. Unlike previous "expansions" this one stands on its own. This is not another GH:Aerosmith by any means, it is so much more. The note charts are FUN to play, albeit brutal at times (its Metallica afterall). The Metallifacts videos are reminiscent of Pop-up video that give more insight about each song, even the non-Metallica tracks. That is something I have felt music games have been lacking for some time. Every song has the lyric sheets available after they are unlocked to be read as the song plays in the background. The note charts are FUN to The level of detail in this game is AMAZING. The level of detail in this game is AMAZING.
